How to Breed, Sex, Care for White Cloud Minnows

White Cloud Minnows are one of those rare fish but not so rare fish.  These fish actually are gone in nature and now only exist in capacity.  But white cloud minnows are easy to care for and actually are quite forgiving when it comes to water quality.  Their are many different kinds, their are albino, and long fin as well for a fancier looking tank.  These minnows actually prefer a colder tank like gold fish.  During the 1940s and 1950s, White Cloud Mountain minnows acquired the nickname, the "Poor Man's Neon Tetra," because they were much more affordable in price than the colorful and then expensive Neon Tetras.

These fish also will go fine in a pond and will breed fast in a pond.  Just put 10-20 of them in a pond and watch them breed.

Feeding White Cloud Minnows: Flake Food, Freeze Dried Food, Frozen Blood worms and Brine shrimp

Temperature: 64-78F

Scientific Name: Tanichthys albonubes

Size: 1.5 inches

Breeding White Cloud Minnows: Easily bred when put in groups and fed live or frozen foods like brine shrimp and bloodworm.  Place a breeding mop or large amounts of java moss.  The minnows will swim around and lay eggs all over in the moss or mop.  The eggs hatch after about 50 hours and become free swimming within 2-3 days.  The parents and other fish should be taken out after breeding.  They usually don't eat the eggs but you don't want to take any chances.
Caring for the fry is easy just feed newly hatch brine shrimp.
